Adsorb is a wireless power bank that attaches to the back of your smartphone with micro suction cups and replaces the bulky design of current power banks with a slimmer construction.
Charging our smartphones while we are away is always an uphill battle. You should either ask the waiter or bartender if they have a charging cable or outlet available for yours. Your only other option is a bulky power bank that weighs and measures three times the weight and size of your phone, which isn’t fun to carry around. Alas, we need this juice. By reducing its volume and equipping it with silicone suction cups to attach to your smartphone, industrial designer Wenjie Zheng has revamped the classic power bank, calling it Adsorb.
In conceptualizing Adsorb, Zheng hoped to replace the heavy weight and large size of the conventional power bank with a much thinner power bank that attaches to the back of your smartphone, requiring no wires for its operation. Since we tend to use power banks only when we desperately need battery power, like when we’re at 1%, but need to seal that awesome ride before the screen goes dark, Zheng said. reduces the size and outlet of the power bank to allow for a slimmer figure.
In conceptualizing Adsorb, Zheng also aimed to make the power bank look more emotional and appealing, ditching the industrial tech aspect of typical power banks for a final look that was both eye-catching and understated. Without the need for wires, Adsorb attaches to the back of your smartphone via a suction grid, gripping and merging with your smartphone to look like a useful design.
Adsorb was designed by Zheng to appeal to everyone, his conceptualization showcasing a range of different colors from mottled yellow to sky blue, two-tone orange, heather gray and even purple. Considering the archaic design of most power banks on the market, Zheng’s visualizes a wireless power bank that attaches to the back of your phone and achieves the quality of the technology it powers.
