The legislator representing the central Osun district in the 9th Assembly, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, has promised to lend money to candidates for the post of governor of the state who do not have enough for their campaign.
Naija News reports that the former Osun attorney general and commissioner of justice said so while berating politicians planning to challenge the governorship of the All Progressives Congress for the election of Osun 2022 against the incumbent governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, be civil.
Speaking yesterday in Igbajo during the inauguration of the Ada-Igbajo road, Bashiru said the government is not against anyone who covets the state’s number one political position, but that no gang could prevent the re-election of Oyetola.
The lawmaker volunteered to lend money to one of those considering challenging the APC governor’s ticket against Oyetola, but did not have enough money.
“We’re not saying that no one should challenge Governor Oyetola in the primary. What we are saying is that no one should take the opportunity to insult a member of the party or the personality of Mr. Governor.“said Bashiru.
Naija News understands that the former secretary to the state governor, Moshood Adeoti; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Lasun; and the former speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salaam, had previously indicated his intention to fight for the post of governor of the APC.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Salihu-Danladi, has reacted to claims that he interested in joining the 2023 gubernatorial race in the state.
Naija News understands that there have been campaigns and reports from some groups alleging approval of the 2023 candidacy for governor of Kwara North by the Rt. Hon. Ing. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, outgoing President Kwara State House of Assembly.
