The GEEP program was developed for vulnerable and low-income Nigerians who are involved in any business activity but have never had the opportunity to access loans from traditional lending institutions.
The program was set up to provide interest-free and collateral-free credit to millions of vulnerable low-income Nigerians (mainly women and youth) who operate micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the informal sector.
The minister, who said he was delighted with the successes recorded so far in implementing the programs, revealed that the ministry, in partnership with NOA, has appointed office workers in the 774 local government areas (LGA ) in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. (FCT).
âIt is a great pleasure to officially announce a collaborative partnership with the National Guidance Agency as one of the partners in the implementation of the NSIP programs since their inception. âThe NOA is identified as one of the organs of government agencies widely distributed in all states and local governments with the capacity to adequately engage, mobilize and educate the general public on government programs and policies.
“It is with this in mind that the FMHADMSD has entered into a partnership with this agency to appoint the community orientation and mobilization agents (COMO) as” GEEP local government office agents “in the 774 levels of government. local in all 36 states and the CTF.
âThe role of the Desk Officers will be to: sensitize communities on the GEEP program; register interested beneficiaries of TraderMoni, MarketMoni and FarmerMoni; collect and collate the data necessary for the program; provide necessary feedback to program coordinators at state and federal levels; encourage active participation in the program and uphold the mandate of the program and lead with honesty and fairness under oath.
According to her, the intensive two-day interactive training course aims to “train master trainers and provide an understanding and insight into the processes, drivers, threats and opportunities associated with the core activities of GEEP.”
“The training should educate master trainers on the new top-to-bottom representation structure of federal, state and local levels respectively, as well as brief them on the roles and responsibilities of COMOs on how to register and enlighten target beneficiaries on how to access GEEP loans to help eradicate poverty, create jobs throughout the Federal Republic of Nigeria, âshe noted.
