A new mashup mixing “Stupify” and gulp from Disturbed, the Macarena, apparently has David Draiman’s approval. Despite the potential horror spectacle it sounds like “Stuparena,” the Disturbed frontman says, “I love it.”
Whatever evil force brought Bill McClintockattention from these two fiercely opposed songs, the mashup master has created a rather neat fusion between the boring ’90s dance pop sensation and the early metal hit single of Disturbed. (McClintock is known for his fluid incorporation of metal vocals into pop melodies, and has a the whole YouTube channel devotes himself to it.)
The mashup is quite simple. The “Macarena” rhythm originally established by Los Del Rio is the basis, while the magnificent voice of Draiman is given pride of place, with the back and forth of the refrains and verses between the tracks. It’s really creepy to hear the words of Draiman “I can feel it all starting to slip a-waaaay…“to blend in”A-yyyyyy Macarena!“
Draiman heard it and said he’s into it, tweeting, “It works in a weird way. I love it lol.”
Listen to the mashup below. If that’s your thing, there’s plenty more McClintock to sample. Some of his choices include “Long live the psycho,” (“Psychosocial” by Slipknot mixed with “Viva la Vida” by Coldplay)”iron sembello,” (fusing the song “Maniac” from the movie lightning dance and Iron Maiden’s “The Trooper”, and probably the most famous”Leotallica,” (a mix of Leo Sayer’s “You Make Me Feel Like Dancing” and Metallica’s “Sad But True”.)
