The event was attended by Sri Mulyani, Minister of Finance; Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs; Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, Deputy Minister of Public Enterprises; and Sunarso, CEO of BRI.
The strengthening of MSMEs, especially the ultra-micro sector, marked the main debate of the BRI Microfinance Outlook 2022. There are 45 million ultra-micro enterprises in Indonesia30 million of whom still do not benefit from formal financial services.
The number of micro-enterprises, which represent 98.7% of MSMEs in Indonesiais the backbone of the national economy as it contributes to the absorption of 89.04% of the working population and 37.35% of the 2019 GDP.
Therefore, the potential of the ultra-micro sector must be increased. These sustained efforts will also reflect the G20 2022 theme, Recover Together, Stronger Together.
“We formed Ultra Micro Holding with a rights issue process that can be absorbed by Rp 95,900,000,000,000providing BIS with strong liquidity and capital that can grow in an integrated ecosystem,” Sunarso said.
Airlangga Hartarto also added that lending to the ultra-micro sector is accelerating the “scaling up” of businesses and supporting government-provided stimulus measures.
Meanwhile, Sri Mulyani explained that there needs to be integrated data management. “Thus, good intentions and lofty goals should be prepared with a reliable integrated data system that can be taken into account. With better integration, the ultra-micro unbankable sector will be reached,” Mulyani said.
Kartika Wirjoatmodjo highlighted the importance of data integration as a key factor for targeting accuracy. Not only credit, BRI Group also ensures the sustainability of companies.
Sunarso confirmed readiness of Ultra Micro Holding data and system integration with strong liquidity and capital to expand into ultra-micro business. Evidenced by the number of Ultra Micro Holding customers in December 2021 stands at 25.2 million and targets 45 million ultra-microenterprises in 2024.
