2 Beloved Austin Businesses Benefit From Yelp’s New $ 100,000 Texas Fund

Some small businesses and families in Texas that are still suffering the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, combined with the long-lasting and expensive nuisance created by Winter Storm Uri in February, could get some money to fix them from a website popular.

Yelp plans to donate $ 50,000 ($ 10,000 each) to help five state businesses complete much-needed repairs and updates to their establishments, including Austin’s House Park Bar-B-Cue and Austin Pets Alive!

Austin’s oldest barbecue restaurant, House Park Bar-B-Cue, was engulfed in fire in early December 2020 and remains temporarily closed as the restaurant works to raise funds to rebuild.

Other Texas establishments benefiting from the Yelp fund include:

  • The Big Easy, a Houston blues club, which was closed for 18 months during the pandemic and will use the funds to repair the stage, bar, floors and walk-in cooler.

“After seeing all the damage from winter storm Uri and the recent storms and floods and other unforeseen events with lasting impacts, we also saw how the community came together to support each other,” said Jonathan Truong, regional manager for Texas at Yelp. “As a company that connects people with great local service professionals, we are excited to be able to lend a hand to other Texans so they can make necessary repairs in their homes and businesses. beloved independents who are at the heart of the community. ”
